High ResolutionFirst Things First
This blog serves as a visual diary for the Advanced Photo-visual Communications class I will be taking this semester as a way to catalog my inspiration and record my progress. I usually have a hard time talking about myself and wind up telling entirely too much or nothing at all. So instead of rambling on and on, I’ll start with the basics:
My name is Ashley McGarry. I am a Junior at the University of South Carolina, majoring in Visual Communications and minoring in Graphic Design. I bought the camera I’m currently using when I was 16 years old and toyed around with it until I had a better understanding of what my high school photography teacher was talking about. I’d like to eventually upgrade to a Canon T1i or T2i for its video capabilities, but right now I’m shooting with a Canon Rebel XT. I also have a 75-300 mm zoom lens, although I rarely use it. Lately I’ve been focusing on developing my skills in design, and as a result my photography has kind of been put on the back burner. Inspiration was hard to find between juggling two mind-numbing jobs in retail all summer, but I am very excited to dust off the good old DSLR and get back in the habit of taking photographs regularly. I hope this class challenges me and teaches me more advanced photography practices.
