This week I’ve been working on redesigning my resume. I loved the last version on my resume when I finished it, but quickly became unimpressed and began to question my choices (as often happens with my design work lately). I’ve been looking at a lot of different resumes and creative branding as inspiration. I wanted to model this new and improved resume after a lot of the clean, vintage style logo design and branding that is becoming increasingly popular. I used this great article as a reference point for combining different fonts and modeled my logo after these bookcovers I reblogged on my personal Tumblr a few weeks ago.
It may seem a little strange to approach my resume as if I were creating a logo or working at building a brand, but if you really think about it, that is what you are doing. You are the product, and your portfolio serves as collateral. The brand you are building through your resume and portfolio is yourself. The stronger and more cohesive your portfolio is the more interest someone will take in your brand. At least that’s the way I’ve been thinking about it lately.
